Honda Siel considering a second manufacturing plant in India
Honda Siel Cars India has just launched the popular Honda Civic sedan in the Indian market. And to cater to the growing demand for their vehicles in the Indian market, the company is now considering setting up a second manufacturing unit in the Indian market.
The company is already doubling its annual production capacity to one-lakh units by next year-end.
HSCI Vice-President N K Goila said in a statement on their expansion plans: “We are already thinking about it. We are exploring various options. We may have to go for a second location.”
Company’s Director-Sales and Marketing H Shimizu added: “We have put production into fast track. In the next round of expansion, the capacity would be increased to 1,00,000 units per annum by 2007 instead of 2010.”
Honda has already invested around Rs 850 crore in India and is further investing around Rs. 400 crores by the end of the current year on expansion plans. They sell models including the Honda City, Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Honda CRV in the Indian market.
