Kris Gopalakrishnan is the new President, COO and joint managing director of Infosys Technologies

Infosys Technologies has announced in a statement that the board of directors of the company has passed a resolution favoring N R Narayana Murthy as additional director of the company. He would take over his new position from August 21, 2006. He is due to retire from his current position on the same day.

Murthy would also act as the non-executive chairman of the company and chief mentor. Murthy said on this new development: “Though I will be vacating my present posts formally on August 20 when I turn 60 and retire as chairman and chief mentor, I will continue as non-executive chairman if the board approves at its meeting on July 11.”

The board of directors has also confirmed the appointment of Kris Gopalakrishnan as president, chief operating officer and joint managing director of the company. He is currently the COO and deputy managing director of Infosys Technologies.

Nandan M Nilekani is currently the CEO, president and MD of the company and he would be re-designated as CEO and MD.
