Matsushita Electric to assemble LCD TVs in Russia
Matsushita Electric has announced their plans to begin the production of liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions in Russia.
They plan to start this manufacturing facility from September this year. Matsushita wants to capitalize on the fact that these kinds of television sets are very popular in the local market.
In addition, the company also has plans to start the production of plasma TVs in Brazil. They are the dominating players in this segment in the world and have competitors like LG and Samsung.
Matsushita also has plans to enhance their focus on markets including Brazil, Russia, India and China in the coming years. These markets are expected to become some of the fastest growing market for these higher end consumer devices in the coming times.
They have set themselves a target of production of 50,000 LCD TVs in Russia in fiscal 2006.
