GM denies Toyota approached them with an offer
US based automotive giants General Motors is currently discussing plans for a possible collaborating with Renault and Nissan to cut costs for manufacturing of cars around the world.
However, incoming reports also states that the company had been also contacted by the Japanese automaker Toyota for a similar deal.
GM has now said that they were never Ford Motors might cut 24,000 jobs concerning a potential alternative alliance similar to the one they are discussing with Renault-Nissan.
BusinessWeek has said in a story that Toyota is preparing their own game plan to potentially counter a 90-day exploratory effort ongoing at GM, Renault and Nissan.
GM already is dealing with Toyota on several fronts and the company might not have any problems expanding these alliances.
GM Spokeswoman Toni Simonetti said: “I am not a spokesperson for Toyota, and so I cannot deny something they purportedly are doing. GM is not contemplating any linkup with Toyota as a result of the Renault/Nissan discussions, nor has it been approached to do so.”
