Bajaj Auto sets up operations in Indonesia
Indian Two Wheeler giants Bajaj Auto has set up a joint venture company in Indonesia. The company would be assembling and selling both three-wheelers and high-end motorcycles in this market.
This joint venture is named Pte Bajaj Auto Indonesia and they have already received the official approval required from the Indonesian authorities.
Bajaj Auto expects to start assembling the three-wheelers in August.
Bajaj Auto Executive Director Sanjeev Bajaj spoke on this venture: “The company will invest $12.5 million to set up the unit with a capacity of 10,000 three wheelers and 100,000 motorcycles.”
The company further plans to start assembly of motorcycles by the third quarter of the current financial year. Bajaj Auto is working with a financial consultancy group Boentaro that holds five per cent on this joint venture.
Bajaj added that they have already started establishing dealerships in the Indonesia markets.
