Oracle acquires communications software maker HotSip AB
Database software market leaders Oracle has announced their decision to acquire the communications software maker HotSip AB. This becomes the company’s second acquisition in as many days as the company is on a buying spree, which has seen it spending billions of dollars in the last couple of months.
Oracle’s latest acquisition HotSip can actually help the company’s customers by taking advantage of telephone or computer instant messaging features from within Oracle’s existing applications.
The two companies declined to reveal the financial detail behind the acquisition. Oracle has been facing increasing competition from SAP in the services segment and is increasing their product portfolio so as to increase their consumer base.
Oracle also recently said in a statement that they would embrace the trend toward open-source software and would try to improve revenues by providing services and support.
