Microsoft to change the way it reports financial results
Software giants Microsoft have said in a statement that they would report its financial performance based on five businesses, down from the current seven operating divisions from the next fiscal year.
This is due to the completion of plans Microsoft had announced sometime back. These five divisions are: Client; Server and Tools; Online Services Group; Microsoft Business Division, and Microsoft Entertainment and Devices division.
The company would be coming out with their fourth-quarter results on July 20 and this result would be based on seven business segments. Next year would bring a change in this structure.
This coming year is going to be critical for the company as they are due to launch some of the most ambitious products including the Windows Vista OS and MS Office 2007. In addition, they would face added competition to their Xbox 360 gaming console with the launch of Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
