Dell to offer printer products in Japanese market
World’s largest maker of personal computers Dell has announced that they would go offensive in the Japanese market with office color printers. They plan to sell these products at around half the prices charged by their competitors.
This could potentially become a problem for local players including Canon and Epson. The news itself resulted in shares of these companies taking a beating at the stock exchange.
As per market reports, the color laser printer market in Japan has been growing around 20 percent annually. The demand stands at around 300,000 units a year.
Dell plans to launch a new printer product with capacities of printing 17 pages per minute in color and 30 pages per minute in monochrome. They plan to price it at around 89,800 yen. This is quite low compared to the 200,000-yen price tag on similar competing products.
