Viisage Technology acquires Iridian Technologies for $35 million in cash
Viisage Technology has announced their plans to acquire an iris-scanning company, Iridian Technologies Inc.
The deal is worth around $35 million and it would be conducted in a cash only transaction. It would help Viisage to strengthen its portfolio of biometric systems for homeland security and access control.
The company had been investing the funds it received from defense executive Robert LaPenta to improve its position in facial-recognition technology, fingerprints and iris biometrics.
They acquired fingerprint biometrics provider Identix Inc. in January this year for $770 million and then went on to buy iris scanner SecuriMetrics Inc. for $28 million in cash.
This latest deal with Iridian is expected to be complete by next month. They would combine this new acquired division with their SecuriMetrics branch.
