The news media group is planning to make the size of its newspaper narrower. In addition, they are also closing a printing plant as they just recently announced a job cut of 1050 employees.

These changes would take place by April 2008. NYT would be closing down their printing plant in Edison, N.J. they would sub-let the plant and consolidate its regional printing facilities at a plant in Queens.

In addition, the format of the newspaper would be narrower by one and a half inches. This redesign alone would result in job cuts of 250 workers at the company. NYT is hoping to save $42 million through these initiatives.
