Nokia posts stronger second quarterly results
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has come out with their latest quarterly results. Nokia posted strong second quarter earnings with a 43-percent jump in net profits and 22-percent rise in sales.
However, stronger performance from their competitors namely Motorola led to a minor dip in their market share.
The profits for the company jumped to 1.14 billion euros from 799 million euros in the same period a year ago. The sales were up at 9.81 billion euros from 8.05 billion. Nokia gained from their increased efforts in emerging markets including China and India.
Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, CEO of Nokia had this to say about the results: “In the second quarter, Nokia delivered strong year-on-year growth in net sales, operating profit and earnings per share. At an industry level, the markets for both mobile devices and mobile infrastructure continued to show healthy growth.”
