Lee Hsien Yang steps down as the chief of the Singapore Telecommunications
Lee Hsien Yang has announced his decision to step down as the chief executive of the Singapore Telecommunications Ltd.
The company is the largest phone company in the region and they are now looking for a suitable replacement for Yang.
Yang has however agreed to remain in the position until the company finds a suitable replacement. He said in a statement released to the press: “Twelve years is a long time in the tenure of any CEO. In my view now is as good a time as any.”
He was appointed as the CEO of the company in 1995 and has led the company while they grew in Australia and across Asia. They also gained minor stakes in Bharti Airtel in India and Telekomunikasi Selular in Indonesia.
Lee also happens to be the brother of Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and has clarified that he has no intentions of entering politics.
