Starwood Capital considering bidding for Whitbread Plc

As per incoming information, U.S. real estate investment firm Starwood Capital is talking with their advisors to possibly launch a bid for UK leisure group Whitbread Plc.

This was reported in a news statement by the media group Financial Mail which claimed that the bid could be of as big as 3 billion pounds.

The newspaper did not reveal the source of this information but added that investment bank JP Morgan was believed to be advising Starwood on the deal.

Whitbread has declined to comment on this report. But they did began a review of its business earlier this year and also announced their plans to sell its Beefeater and Brewers Fayre pub restaurants to focus on building 100 new hotels. They are also planning to expand abroad.

The company is also considering reviewing their TGI Friday and Pizza Hut operations.
