ATI Deal: Advanced Micro Devices might make a significant announcement today
The market is abuzz with rumors that microprocessor company AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) is due to acquire the makers of graphic cards ATI.
In fact, the company is expected to make a significant announcement today and this might be it! The deal is rumored to be of around USD 5.5 Billion.
AMD are the second largest supplier of microprocessors for the personal computer platform after Intel and this deal could see them get more weapons to counter the challenge from Intel, which also develops motherboards and graphical solutions for PCs.
AMD Chairman and Chief Executive Hector Ruiz and Chief Financial Officer Bob Rivet are expected to hold a conference call with investors today. However, the company has officially declined to reveal anything.
