Motorola gaining ground on Nokia in Mobile Phone market
US-based Strategy Analytics has said in a report that US based mobile phone maker Motorola is gaining at a rapid pace on their rivals Nokia in the market and could potentially overtake in the next couple of years.
Nokia continues to head the list of mobile makers in the world with around 33% market share. The report claimed that if the two brands continue to grow at their current pace, Motorola could in fact overtake Nokia by next year!
Nokia leads the chart mostly due to their low cost handsets, which are very popular in the Asian countries like china and India. Motorola is now investing heavily in this particular category, which is high volume but low profit segment.
Nokia’s sales grew at a pace of 29 per cent compared to 53 per cent for Motorola in the most recent quarter. Motorola continues to benefit from their super cool Razr range of mobile products. The worst sufferers are the South Korean mobile manufactures including LG and Samsung.
