BellSouth Corp. reports improved profits

BellSouth Corp. is the dominating telecom company in nine Southeastern states in the USA and the company has just come out with their revenue reports.

The company said in its report that they benefited from growing number of wireless, long distance and Internet customers.

Bellsouth managed to overcome a loss of landlines as it posted a more than 11 percent jump in second-quarter profit.

This was better than what the market had expected from the company and the news report helped the company gain at the stock market.

Bellsouth reported that it earned $887 million, or 49 cents a share, for the three months ending June 30. The revenues were up 1.2 percent to $5.21 billion compared to same period last year.

Chief Financial Officer Pat Shannon said in a statement on this revenue report: “Their strong performance continues to benefit our shareholders in significant ways.”
