General Motors global sales are somewhat down

World’s largest automobile manufacturer General Motors has said that their global sales were more than 7 percent lower in the second quarter when compared to the same period last year.

The company continues to struggle in the home market of USA and these losses are not completely filled up by growing sales in newer markets like china and India.

The company said that they sold around 2.4 million vehicles in the second quarter. The sales in the US market alone were down around 17 percent.

However, there was some good news in these figures as the sales were up 9 percent compared to the first quarter of the year.

GM managed to post a 47 percent gain in sales in China in the first half of the year. This is now expected to slowdown as the government in china is taking steps to crimp demand and slow their economy.
